Serena Into The Final 8

Serena Williams is into the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. If you had a ticket for Serena's match it was not advisable to blink otherwise you would have missed the match. The second seed was in a great frame of mind as she took apart Daniela Hantuchova 6-3, 6-1.
"I was definitely out there not to stay out too long and do just the best I could do, whether it was win or lose," said Serena.
It's been a very hot day in London. At 7am the mercury was already at 72 degrees and by 1pm it had climbed to about 90 degrees and adding to the heat was the sun which for the whole morning was bright and high in the sky. It was only as the afternoon moved on the clouds started to come over and that helped the conditions a bit, however it remained quite humid and uncomfortable.
Serena didn't feel the condition very much because she is used to the heat with all the practice she does in South Florida so she felt fine. It certainly showed as she got on top of the Slovak player early in the match and never relinquished the advantage. She played in fantastic authority and things came together. Certainly Hantuchova's game was not quite there but Serena didn't all it to be.
She was just reeling off point after point.
"I was aware of that today but usually I'm never aware of that," Serena said. "I just thought, okay, I broke at 40-Love; I held at 40-Love, I thought, Hmm, did I win the first set when it was over. I don't know, I was thinking, How many points did I win? I was aware for the first time I think in my career that I was on a winning streak."
Serena made the point that with the heat the court is probably playing a bit quicker I think it would play a little quicker, but then added "grass is always really fast for me", as as result it was not an issue for her.
"I've been solid," she said of her game so far. "I definitely have been solid and playing consistent. Obviously there's always room for improvement in my game. Definitely felt like I could have served a little better today. You know, just going with that."
In the next round Serena will play Victoria Azarenka sho Serena beat in Australia but the player from Belarus scored a win in Miami over Serena.
"Well, she's obviously a good player and she's really young," Serena said. "She has, you know, nothing to lose. This is Wimbledon. You know, I feel the same way. It will be a really good match."
Come on Serena, make it 3!!!

Azarenka is a lil tricky, but when you're playing your best Serena nobody can top that! So excited, so excited...

Come out swinging and make sure your alert!. Azarenka is dangerous, I know you can win tomorrow. I loved the way you played today in doubles 6-0,6-0, double bagel!! over the chinese team way to go. I just hope that is enough rest time for you and Venus to play for tomorrow. I wish they would make it tuesday. So it would be better for you both. I hope you both now just come out and give all you got and win tomorrow. and make it to the semifinals. I'm praying for you to win Serena, I want to see a all Williams final. It sucks that NBC didn't play your match live, they delayed it till later in the westcoast till it was over... So the only way I'll be able to watch you play is online tomorrow...so I will watch the score tracker and root you on...C'mon serena you no.1!! and lets see you win....
great game today!!!! i get so nervous when you play i guess its the excitement of you being so close to playing Venus. as for Azarenka, she is too emotional you can use that to your advantage. take it to her immediately, make her second guess herself and let her emotions fly. i will be cheering at home pretending i am on the side lines as usual. good luck tomorrow!!!! you can do it!!!!

Serena, I just got home from work and now watching the match between you and Hantuchova.. Anyway, like i said the other day. Just play your game tomorrow against Azaranka. You need to come out with the same mindset as you did against Sharapova at the Australian Open 2 years ago. Don't let her dictate the game. She will test you tight away. Serena! i was so excited to see you play Azarenka and totally shut her game down. the media was all hyped saying she would be the one most likely to shut you and Venus down and i just smiled listening to themn having to eat their words. I know that the finals will be you and Venus, and i wish you both the best becasue you are sisters. I pray that you obtain a clay court tennis court for The French open and have the drive, determination and fierce attitudew to obtain that title again. i pray that you stay healthy, stay fit and continue to make history. You and Venus should consider creating a Tennis academy for minority children once you retire from tennis. There is so much inspiration you could give to others and to future african-american players, who need someone to take an interest in their game. Wao! Am always proud and happy whenever Serena has her tournament becouse she plays with confident despite who and what the oponent might be.
