Serena Secures Place in Wimbledon Second Week

It was one of the dullest days of the first week of Wimbledon weather wise. While rain hadn't interrupted play when Serena Williams went on court; there had been some showers overnight and in the morning before play actually started. There was even a debate over whether the Centre Court roof should be closed. In fact it remained open.
However that was not something Serena had to be concerned about because she was scheduled to play on, and was the first match on, the new Court Two. That court is being used for the first time this year and it really is a lovely court. One that has a sunken effect and seats 4,000. Really nice.
"I'm happy to have gotten my match over," Serena said. "I'm happy to have won. You know, I always play on Court No. 2. You know, it's not a court for Roger (Federer), but it's definitely a court for me. But I haven't won Wimbledon five times.
"But it is a really big difference (compared to Centre or One), you know. The fans are more involved in the match, it seems, more verbal. And it's fun. I enjoy it."
Serena was playing the Italian Roberta Vinci and didn't waste much time in getting on and off the court, winning the match 6-3, 6-4 on her third match point, and there is no sweeter way to finish a match than how Serena did it ... with an ace. However Serena wasn't totally satisfied with how she played.
So she's into the last 16 and the second week of the tournament and in fact now has two days off before starting the business end of The Championships. The reason for that is she would not have be scheduled to play tomorrow (Saturday), at a Grand Slam event you play every other day, and here at Wimbledon the middle Sunday is a rest day. Everyone has the day off ... how terribly British but how terribly civilised.
Serena will be back on the grass courts on Monday when she will play Daniela Hantuchova who accounted for Ai Sugiyama 6-4, 6-3.
"Well, she's such a smooth player and she takes her time on the court," Serena said. "You know, I have to make sure I don't rush myself 'cause she is, you know, playing well and I think she's moving well. So I'm gonna have to really bring a tough game."

Reading their body language is not what they want. They want you and your sister to go away so they can focus on the uprising new stars. Look at all those papers on the desk they have in front of them and they are not happy what they see on paper as well as they see on court. Its in your HEART and thats what they can not understand. GOD put it in your HEART and they can't change it. Mary Jo and others don"t understand this, they learn theirs in school. what amazing GOD we serve. Keep putting GOD first, yourself, and family. Thats the answer to success. Tell Mary jo they are leaving out the GOD factor. You can not do nothing good without him, win or lose.

I am now really shocked! Shocked that someone like Serena Williams, a TRUE role model for young people, would have such ridiculously high opinions of michael jackson. ps. Serena, I am so sad that Michael Jackson died, and I fought back tears all day yesteday. In your interview you were so sad and concerned for his family, too, and I hope that you will be okay, too. GOD willing, Michael is in a better place and will never have to be treated so poorly by his own fellow man ever again. I know that Michael changed the face and sound and look of music forever and will be greatly missed. My condolences and prayers go out to his family in hope they find peace and solace in this time of need. Michael Jackson - a legend.
How easy it is to judge and criticize people when you are PERFECT, right? sigh. She/he who is perfect and without sin can cast the first stone, but her/his house is see through and made of candy glass- the really easy to break stuff. Otherwise, she/he would have lived long enough to know that some people are in such pain that they appear to do strange things. The truth is they are more like us than not--- they just wear their pain on the outside in the hopes someone will reach out and help them. Very sad to speak ill of Michael who was never convicted of a crime and harassed by known racists in power because he was rich and Black.

I saw your post win interview regarding Michael Jackson today, and I was just sad as you and the rest of the world. Hi all, I am still shocked over this monthās celebrity deaths; David Carradine, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett-Majors, then the biggest shocker of all, Michael Jackson. I mean these are people I grew up with, then thereās Patrick Swayze, whoās the same age I am, hanging on by the skin of his teeth, I mean, wow! Itās like another 911 experience. Serena, Iām really happy for you. You have been making some extremely sophisticated shots. I understand why, you can definitely scramble when you need to but itās a lot less stress on the body mastering the racket. In the second round I saw you try to return a serve with a drop shot, I wish you would have nailed that shot, you only missed it by a couple of inches, that was definitely thinking outside the box. I also seen Venus doing a flying split leap shot too. I thought that looked cool, it really isnāt hard to do once someone has the flexibility. I wish Venus had the flexibility to make it a full 180 degree flying split leap shot. (Talk her into stretching out more.) That would really be something to see with those extra long legs and all. I know you all are having fun showing off, Iām enjoying the show, and, looking forward to the next act. If things start getting tight, just stop playing around and get serious, and you will do just fine.

He girl, hope everything is ok. Just want to share my Wimbledon experience with you. Last Wednesday me and my friend took of to London for a three days trip. On Wednesday I had corporate tickets for centre court. So after Maria's game we headed to court 1. Soon we've found out that visiting Wimbly is a matter of being patience and queuing(queuing rules LOL)the queu was awful so many people wanted to see your game. Therefore we could not enter the court, what a pity. Just to be clear, once your inside the AELTC playground you can go and see every match as long your willing to queu LOL. There a two kinds of tickets, reserved and free seating. Of course you don't have to queu for reserved seats. But like so many people we went for free seats. So for Thursday we had to change our plan to maximise our chances to see you play on court 4. We started to queu at 5am and exacly 10am we've managed to get tickets plus reserved tickets for court 1. After watching Venus won her first set on court 1 we start queuing for seats at court 4, and we did after 2.30h! It was great to see you both playing doubles. I was so excited that during this match I've send you several twitter messages, I hope you've managed read them. I had a awesome awesome time but was really exhausted afterwards. Before catching our flight back to The Netherlands on Friday we went shopping at Oxfort street. A recommandation for every one, Love the Selferidge store. Next year I will definitely visit Wimbledon again (I know now how it works) I wish you all the best, stay healty, be focused and keep the spirit up. Love you. Cheers, Hotpants

Hi Serena, I've just been watching your T.V. interview talking about your life and what you want to do in the future, writing etc and I wanted you to know that I thought you came over as a really nice person. You were also talking about your body image and i also thought to myself "what is this girl talking about? there's nothing wrong with her body" I dont know what you consider a good body but believe me you've got one. I'm 52 now but when I was younger i used to play a lot of Squash and reached the dizzy hieghts of county champion, so i understand a little of your work ethic, practice, diet, etc. I'm a musician these days, I'm not well known nationally but I have a great time playing concerts and doing one man shows. (dont know why I wrote that but I'll leave it in) Anyway back to you! I don't know if you'll have time to read any of this or how inportant it is to you but just in case you do read it.
