SERENA’s 92k MISSION

Hey Guys,

How are you all? I hope that all is well. I want to raise $92,000, to match what I am being fined from the ITF (international tennis federation) and donate it to some of my many philanthropic endeavors. The ITF denied my request to use some of the monies toward a charity of my choice- so I decided to match what I was FINED by raising money for the Serena Williams Foundation, my second Secondary school that will be opening in Africa soon, other charities & schools.

I will not only be raising money but I will be donating as well. I have started to gather personal clothes to give away as well as things that I have worn during tournaments to auction off. Dresses I wore a various Wimbledon's, US Opens, French Opens, Australian Opens, and more will be auctioned off and 100% of proceeds will go to my charity until we reach our 92k mission!!

As you know, I am an advocate for education. I will be donating money to schools in California, and Florida Education, and learning is key & this experience has educated me beyond belief so I would also like to take this opportunity to educate Women about what I have learned from this experience. It does not matter if you are an athlete, student, teacher, attorney or a police officer, we as women should not be treated as less than equal. It is our right as HUMANS to be treated equal no matter race, color, or gender. I will start this mission by donating clothes to women Shelters throughout California. My first mission is to donate clothes to Liberty Social Services of San Diego County. I am asking that you all help me reach this goal in turning 92k into a great MISSION of Empowerment for Education & Woman!

There will be more information coming soon on how you all can help me reach my 92k MISSION!!!

Xxxx,

S.

Hi Serena, that's a great idea. I hope that Serena Nation will all come together and help you reach your goal. I will do my part cause I think it for a really good cause. Also, I think that you are the Role Model of Role Models. You lead by example not only in tennis but everything that you do off the court as well. Anyone can do anything that they want to do but it has to start with getting an education. Good luck reaching your goal. I will stay tuned for more information.

Serena, I know you are being politically correct but the line judge was not consistent in the call and you just lost it and I too was right with you.For anyone who ever competed understand an inappropriate question or disrespect act will increase a sudden outburst regardless who you are, it is human nature to react.I want to say to you and to all athletes, celebrities you are living in a time in which many news and gossip networks want to destroy you because negative news increase ratings and sells.I encourage you to always take the high road and show grace and beauty as you have in this instance. The level of success that women tennis is receiving is attributed to Venus and you, and a generation of young players of all races are forever grateful for your willingness to stand on courage and grit and show that a black kid from Compton despite the odds can be successful. The world, the WTF owe you and Venus many thanks for bringing excitement and grace under pressure to the world of tennis. For what Jackie Robinson was to baseball, Althea Gibson and Arthur Ashe were to tennis the baton have been passed to Venus and You,Serena and you have done a mighty job so hold your head up high and know in the heat of any given situation we may regret an action but it is what you have done after all the criticism, the second guessing you. I applaud you for taking the higher road and matching your fine with a fabulous incentive like the one you are mentioning 92k mission for deserving schools internationally as well as in the States. I do not stutter when I say where is the media now when you are launching such a wonderful program ? Always follow your heart, and I know you will always come out on top like Daddy Williams and your mom knew long before the world knew who Venus and Serena were to become great champions and very classy ladies.

Comment by : Monique Rice Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Hey queen everyone knows that fine was unjust!! Never the less.. You keep being you.. The queen who reigns supreme!! Don't let them get in your head!! Do what you do WIN!!!

Comment by : Jim Roeder Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Hey Serena, this is right on time. I think one of the keys in life is how we can take the adversity we face, and we all face it at times, and turn it into something positive. You do this very well, time and time again. Way to go! That is why we love you and your spirit. I will be on the lookout for additional information. Be sure to include some of those cool "Are you looking at my titles" t-shirts in the auction. I will be happy to help with the cause :-) Will you be signing the items if requested? Thanks for all you do, Jim

Of course, I will be more than willing to help. I currently live in Raleigh, NC then I might be relocating to Memphis, Tn- so any charities that you suggest to help your mission, I will donate to. It is very classy, intelligent, and caring for you to do this. Not to get off subject but I really, really hope that you have a PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR/LAWYER further looking into the matter. I have a very strong intuition that that line official was PAID to do what she did to you; furthermore, I also strongly believe that if your lawyers were to rewatch the match agst. Clijsters, they would find out that there were foot faults committed by Clijsters as well but they were NOT CALLED. Of course, it is your choice but I think that it would be wise to have your lawyer/private investigator to further look into the matter. Also, I would not be surprised if during the week of that match, that line official might have received extra funds into her bank account- JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT. Nobody would do such a thing for nothing(without a nice price tag) and you should further look into it. OF COURSE, THEY WOULDN'T AGREE TO SEND SOME OF THE MONIES TO CHARITIES BECAUSE THEY ARE GREEDY, SELFISH, IGNORANT, RACIST BIGOTS!!! They did what they did to you not just because you are a FEMALE but because YOU ARE A BLACK FEMALE. (Twitter name:SHELTOMO)

You could say that you have 92,000 problems but a fan isn't one. I know that Serena nation will come through & help you raise the 92K. I believe that you are the greatest role model of our generation. You have the ability turn a negative into a positive.

Serena, I always knew you´re amazing, not just a tennis player, but also a person, a human being, an young woman that is not afraid, nothing hides, says what she thinks, feels and doesnt fear to assume full responsibility for what she does. The fine and the two years probations is exorbitant and unfair and just shows how low ITF considers the true values like honesty, fairness, morality and impartiality. How sad!! To make a mistake is easy, we all do mistakes every day, but to admit it and apologize for it, it´s an atributte only of a great personality. You´re an extraordinary person with an amazing spirit, and you´re smarter than the whole ITF, they just could learn from you. I feel blessed and very proud of you Serena. Protect your peace of mind and keep your head up, the bigest gifts are always wrapped in pains. Keep doing what you do, we´re with you, always.. :)

Comment by : Iveta Zacharova Wednesday, December 9, 2009

off topic, but I have to say it. Common seems to be a very cool guy, but on the other hand he must know he´s also very lucky he met you. :) God bless! :)

Comment by : Alex Fox Wednesday, December 9, 2009

I have watched you and your sister via the television for years. I was extremely disappointed at what occured at the US Open, but you did threaten to kill her. I don't think you meant it and neither do your fans, but that is the main difference between what you did and the other tennis players did. I hope you will one day own up to it.

Comment by : Rich Smith Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Serena, I applaud your efforts to reach your goal for your Foundation and everything It represents. I have been a long supporter of you and Venus and even more so this day. I feel a sense of pride everytime you both step out on the court and appear in the media because I can relate to where you come from and having aspirtations to know where I'm going. For the record...We all know that this fine is impossible, but how can we actually determine and prove the reason for the harshness of it? I've read all of the comments on here so far, and feel the support of your fans in your conner (me too), but enough is enough. There comes a time when we must take a stand in this day and age for instances like you're going through. I know you have had to fight all along, but this is a very important one, because we all know there was no foot fault...the lines person knows it, the empire knows it, and millions of fans and viewers around the world know it. There is not footage on the planet that can prove there was a foot fault. I have to fight everyday in the State of Kentucky for reasons of subtle racism, discrimination, and bigotry; much like you and Venus do in the world of tennis. I want you to know that I am most definitely in your corner and whatever decision you make, but I hope you find it in your heart to make the right one. For the purpose, for the gp, and because you can. TTYL, Rich

Serena, I think that you have been unfairly fined. There seems to be no recourse for the organization that makes bad calls, even when it impacts your future as a player. I do not know the options you have as a player, but I think that you should contest or appeal this fine. This seems to be a fine that targets you as a player for being popular, because the incident was highly publicized. For players that don't get air time, it doesn't seem like it would be quite as big a deal. Please continue to inspire and pave the way for unprecedented actions. Best, Natalie.

Comment by : Chasity Johnson Thursday, December 10, 2009

don't like to play the race card, however, this is not looking good on their part. If other players have committed similar or the same offense, then the punishment should be the same for all, not just for some. But I am glad to see that you are able to turn this around and make something good out of it. You and your sister are two of the greatest tennis players of all time if you ask me, you are the ONLY tennis pros that I make a point to watch! So, keep doin' what you do girl! Kill 'em with kindness!

Comment by : Joi Anderson Thursday, December 10, 2009

As much as I use to love your persona, I must say a threat is a threat. For a person to be upset is understandable, but WWJD?, I hope that IF you had the chance to do it again, the following would not have been posted {google: FOX News}: ""If I could, I would take this ... ball and shove it down your ... throat," Williams said. She continued yelling at the line judge, and went back over, shaking her racket in the official's direction." You are human, but so was that judge...she probably wanted to cry while looking into your eyes. Not because she was scared, please..too many witness for that, but because a person that has been/going through worse, would not talk to someone like that. I try to carry myself as a lady, however, the streets are differnt-then a tennis court. I think you may have never been in a fight because you are a special child of God, and He has led you, and you have let Him be in charge. Besides, He would not want His children shaking rackets at anyone. Good luck to you, and whether you like it or not, you are a role model, hopefully this mission will teach you that if you can not agree with someone-yes ,do something about it, just not in a violent way {physically or verbally}. I'm sure the judge was incorrect in many's eyes, but you have no idea what may/may not have been her distraction. I lost someone dear to me while I was at work (you can relate), and had to continue on with my role that deals with customer interface...I wish you well, but not with financial assistance; we all are learning about shocking celebrities, and how they wouldn't need "support" if they thought prior to acting. God Bless you.

Serena, I don't watch or play tennis but I did read about this on perezhilton's blog. I just wanted to say I think your 92K Mission is a wonderful idea! To turn such a negative offense into something positive proves you are a great role model. I also think your statement regarding this situation was very on-target and I hope those officials in your sport begin acting more fair when it comes to making tough calls. We all lose our temper and one time or another and unfortunately you have the world watching you. However, the same world will support you on this terrific fund raising endeavor!! -Megan J

I will also speak with people I know can help you. I love you. Nse.

When somebody as good as Serena gets to that level of play, i truly believe they do not make 'foot faults'as the line judge was indicating. I find fault in the quality of the line judge, not in the game Serena plays. I watched her in Miami from a lower box seat and cheered her on during her winning performances. She is too good to be calling like that, but what a HECK of a player to move forward and not criticize openly the judge like i am :)

This is great to hear from, every person falls less of something in life and only through speaking it out it could be known to others for help. It is in this world where gender discrimination, race and color apply but I do not think if this is in Jehovah's kingdom. Once the initiative wins every person who read it, convince everybody who hears about it, then your goal can be achieved, because all have right to life, they also have right to quality education. I only believe that any kind of support your foundation will chose to give should be in a form of Empowerment and not cash to house hold so that once given forever it continues to generate for more, now from the hands of the given needy.

Comment by : Florence Goodwin Thursday, December 10, 2009

Dear Serena: I have watched your career from the day you and your sister Venus jumped into the Pro circuit. I have listened to commentary that was blatantly bias -- and continuous --- the better you two played and the HARDER you hit that serves, you disrupted and unsettled the ladies tennis world. Prior to you two coming on the scene, it was more like TABLE tennis. I remember snide, back-handed comments regarding your clothes and jewelry --- "...who would wear THOSE earrings"? Well, AGAIN - you two became leaders in fashion for the ladies' tennis world and they should have thanked you for your expertise and fashion sense. I remember the "new girl on the block" -- and that "girl" was ALWAYS going to be the one to beat you. Well - to the dismay of some of those commentators - it didn't work out too well. Therefore they decided to make tennis a beauty pageant -- well, had they called me I could have told them that that wouldn't work either because you two BEAUTIFUL African-American ladies must have mirrors that smile back at YOU BOTH. Now to the point of the latest episode for you Serena - I saw that and I understand -- I was JUST as upset because I SAW what had happened to you in the past ---....like at the French Open...all those years ago in Canada...and AT INDIAN WELLS (I still haven't gotten over that, lol). And then....suddenly....the "foot fault" problems. I get it. But you have done so-oooo outstandingly well and your determination will keep you playing for a l-o-n-g time. Thus I will have to stay up half the night (when you play overseas) and be nervous until you finish - lol). You truly have overcome -- you're special. Keep it up. (My two granddaughters are STILL playing tennis in College - and are working on their Graduate degrees --- they are TRULY fans of yours as well.) Always F. Goodwin Cave Creek AZ

I think you should call for video recall ability to question FOOT FAULT calls. There should be no person-generated call that can not be challenged by the player and established by technology. It's 2010. There is no reason for tennis to be marred by uncertainty!!

WHOMEVER IS ADVISING YOU SERENA, NEEDS TO BE GONE !!! I DO NOT BLAME YOU AT ALL FOR THE OUTBURST. I DO SAY THAT AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE THAT FOLLOWED UNTIL NOW THERE WAS A BETTER WAY TO HANDLE IT. THIS 92K IDEA IS OKAY BUT NO BIG DEAL REALLY. THE ONLY REASON I EVEN WATCH THE US OPEN IS B/C OF YOU AND VENUS AND THERE ARE COUNTLESS PEOPLE ( BLACK ESPECIALLY ) THAT WATCH FOR THE SAME REASON. WE HAVE A LONG LEGACY OF STRUGGLE AND FIGHTING TO MAKE THINGS BETTER, AN OPPORTUNITY YOU LOST AT THE US OPEN. THEY NEED TO PENALIZE OFFICIALS WHEN THEY MAKE BAD CALLS. IF A PLAYER SLAMS A RACKET THEY GET FINED THE CHALLENGE WAS WITH THE ITF. MAKE THEM ADD A RULE TO THEIR BOOK CALLED " THE SERENA RULE ". THE TECHNOLOGY ONLY REVERSES A BAD CALL THAT'S IT. THERE SHOULD BE CONSEQUENCES JUST AS IT IS FOR PLAYERS. SO THEN, YOU ACTUALLY ENCOURAGED WHAT YOU TERM UNEQUAL TREATMENT BY NOT CHALLEGING THE ITF. GET SOME NEW ADVISORS....

Hey Serena, This an awesome thing that you're doing. I would love to support your cause here in the Chicago area. Keep us posted on your launch date. A nationwide event would be great. Maybe give handbags&dresse donation for young women. And host a celebrity auction to help raise funds. Do you have cute T-shirt that say Serena with 92k & your logo? Maybe bedazzled. to anyone that makes a donation over a certain amount. Mary Evans, Bolingbrook,Il

Dear Serena, You should have not lost your kool you always come from behind to win matches, and you would have won that match had you stayed focus, but that's ok you will be back GOD made you and Venus the Queens of tennis and no one csn take that away from you'all And I will be assisting you with this project. Also I tried to send you a e-mail from your website but it's not working you may want to look into that. Anyway Happy Holidays to you and your family. Keep your head up, you have made us very proud.

Dear Ms. Williams: Questions: Will any other retailers be carrying the lip balm? Where do I send a cash donation? Why was your offer to donate the 92K to a charity denied? Would the ITF donate the money to a charity of THEIR choosing? In any case, I think your decision to help those in need is a superior response to an unfortunate event. I look forward to hearing more info on how I can help. #1Fan
