Serena... All I have to say is congrats and thank you! I got into tennis a few years ago in 7th grade. Nothing much I really just wanted to take something easy to pass. I didn't realize it would be so much fun for me! Then came along a project for english to research a celebrity I saw towards the bottom of the list, "Serena Williams- Tennis Player" I remember exactly what I thought, "Meh, what the heck. Why not?" Little did I know that changed me considerably after reading about you and your sisters pasts. After that I continued to do tennis. I was in love with the sport! Now I am a freshman and ranked #5 out of 20 girls on my high school team. Not only that, before starting tennis I was about 30-40 pounds overweight from just being plain lazy. Since getting into tennis I've lost about 20 lbs! Now all my somewhat snug clothes feel much more comfortable and look much better on me now. Let me tell you, Serena, very nice feeling indeed. :)

I am glad that Serena is # 1 now like she should have been a long time ago. How does someone like Safina, who has not play as much tennis in her career out the blue automatically get the # 1 spot and not the calibur player with grand slam experience and wins and recent wins not be a the top sooner than later. The WTA needs to rethink their whole poll structure. Other players as well should be further up too that have the wins and that alone should give them more points especially with Grand Slam wins which Venus and Serena over the last decade have dominated in the Grand Slam total catergory than any 5 players put together in some cases.
