Rain Cancels Semis At US Open

By Craig Gabriel

NEW YORK: The rain has played havoc with the schedule of play at the US Open. Serena Williams was supposed to be playing a semi final match against Kim Clijsters but the wet weather that fluctuated from driving rain to a misty drizzle put an end to that.

The other semi final was between Caroline Wozniacki and Yanina Wickmayer.

Serena and Clijsters had played eight times before and Serena has won seven of those matches including their one and only meeting at the US Open. That was the first time they had ever met and it was in 1999 the first time Serena won the Open.

The match was in the third round and Serena won it 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

"I just remember no one really knew her, and she gave me a run for my money" Serena recalled. "You know, I knew her, because I seen her in the locker room a lot and I seen her play a lot. I just knew her face, and I felt like that was actually a turning point in both our careers."

"She's a really good player. She plays tough. She plays hard. Now it's like a totally different level, because she has absolutely nothing to lose. She just kinda is -- I think that's when you can play your ultimate best tennis."

Serena has a lot of good things to say about Clijsters and describes her as "so nice and just a really good-hearted individual and takes tennis very seriously, but takes life more seriously". Serena feels they are very similar in make-up personality wise.

Comment by : Moogoo Badika Saturday, September 12, 2009

You just showed your ass today you dumb bitch. Showed your true colors. It's about time your luck ran out. I asked your Dad if I could get an autograph from me and he basically gave me that "go fuck yourself cracker" look. He is a known racist and now YOU have played right into the hands of people that claim that African Americans are just fucking savages and have no self control or self discipline. I hope you lose all of your sponsors. If an Asian women had cussed you out like that you would have claimed "racism" immediately. Hypocrite..and sore loser. Hope I never see u in a final again. Bitch!

Comment by : Moogoo Badika Saturday, September 12, 2009

Fuck you. Dare u to publish that..BITCH

Comment by : c brown Saturday, September 12, 2009

You embarrassed yourself, women, Americans, as well as African Americans with your reprehensible conduct tonight. How dare you! I think you should be banned from playing tennis. You owe more than an apology. Who do you think you are? Disgraceful. Seriously, our open hosting other countries and this is how you act! Get off the court, especially if you can't handle one bad call!

Comment by : Kim Caspari Saturday, September 12, 2009

Sooo sorry to see the match against Clijsters end the way it did. What tough circumstances! The weather, the shaky calls all match. The bad foot fault call. You handled the press conference very well. I like the way you avoided some of the STUPID questions from the press. You'll recover and will be stronger. Always a fan of you and Venus!

Comment by : Guy Roberts Saturday, September 12, 2009

Hi Serena. I sure wish it didn't end this way. This match will be one of the main highlights of the event, and for all the wrong reasons. Well, I hope everything turns out okay.

Comment by : Mark Fisher Saturday, September 12, 2009

Just thought I would help Serena out since she "forgot" what she said to that linesperson. "I'm going to take this ball and shove it down your F!@#en throat" It isn't hard to lip read. Tutt Tutt Miss Williams, perhaps now you know what you said you could grow up and apologise to not only the linesperson, but also all your fans for showing how not to act in the heat of the moment.

Comment by : Carlene Farmer Saturday, September 12, 2009

Serena owes her fans and line judge an apology for her non-champion like behavior at the end of the semi-final. What a horrible display of poor behavior uncommon to a true champion.

Serena ignore those idiots like Moogoo.....I would have cursed that bi*** out too if she made a bad call on me. You have dug yourself out of worse circumstances than that and won the match. Hold your head up and go to the next match and bring back a win.

Comment by : this lady Saturday, September 12, 2009

I am so pissed off with these commentators. Like John "screaming" Macenroe never cursed or sweared or glared or got mad. Pleeeeeeaaase!!!!!!!!!!!!Give me a break. Most times I just can't stand the bias that plagues this sport. Yes, Serena should have kept her cool but so should've Macenroe and look at him. They just conveniently overlooked and didn’t comment at all about his past potty mouth. They just love this. It’s too bad that there is now fuel to the fire. This is just the excuse that they are looking for. Especially that ugly carillo witch. It is just such a double standard. Black people will never earn respect/dignity in AMERICANT and I hate to call myself an american. And that prejudiced mary "man" carillo and dick whatever-his-stupid name is act like macenroe was a freakin' choir boy on the court. At least be all around you racist, double-talking, backstabbing, white adoring, black hating bastards. Serena, keep your head up. Learn from this and move on. Jehova be with you as always. Love to you and yours in His name.

Comment by : Serena is A LOSER Saturday, September 12, 2009

Really what kind of example are you when you act like a complete ass. Its been proven you can play tennis and win and thats about it. The way you handle yourself says more about a person then winning a tennis match. Your suppose to be a role model, your a joke, a fake and and a very narrow minded sole. By the way you should lay off the performance enhancing drugs, your really starting to look like a man!

Comment by : lydia Lindquist Saturday, September 12, 2009

Serena, you have been going through so much and kept your composer. You won't lose your sponsors. If anyone can throw a stone, they are a liar! Sometimes you can hold in a lot of injustice for so long, then one day. . . .Boom! You blow up. I've done it many times throughout my life. Don't kick yourself. Whatever was inside of you baby girl came roaring out. You ARE NOT A HYPOCRITE. Just know that their are many ppl behind you and have you and your family's best interest at heart. As for these people writing in playing the race card, they'll get over it. Pray Serena! Jehovah forgives in a large way. In fact, He's about to blow up soon Himself.

hi Serena, actually im glad u finally said something about the bad calls, we fans have to sit there and take it when bad calls are made and watch u keep your cool even though at times those bad calls cost u the game! its sick'ning how any one else can loose their temper and just get a warning or not even that but as soon as you do something here come the rules...good u cursed her ass out. sometime enough is enough and i think tonight you had enough!!! i still love u girl we all have our days, keep on and keep your head up!! this is motivation to take over next year....ppl tend to forget that you are human and everyone looses their cool from time to time.

I am a strong believer in everything happens for a reason. Whatever the reason is that made you lose your cool, we don't know. You will be fine. The media or your true fans will not think less of you. You are human. You are still young and have a lot to learn. I am not worrying about you because things will get back to normal. Don't listen to any of those racist comments. I wish i could meet you in person one day.. Anyway, just take it easy and take it down a notch...:-) Love, Ketie

Hey this is for those fuckers who are talking smack about Serena, she dont need to be hearing all this bull shit from haters like you. You need to get a life and not bash celebrities on their own site. Those words were uncalled for what u said about her and theres an anormous amount of pressure on a 11 time grand slam champion, (something you dont know a damn thing about) and that was the third bad foot fault call in the tournament. 2 in the same match same old bat lineswomen. Put that aside, when you go through prejudices your whole life you know when somethings up and that continually happens to not only the williams sisters but to african americans in general. And dont say that nothing is like that anymore it is its just not as bad as before. So Serena i hope you dont read thise bad comments just know that you run this town-you shudnt have to feel as the bad person because of this and lastly i just hope you read all my comments always love you peace from your unknow boo. Wow, huge fan of Serena until today. What she said to that linesman who was doing her job in disgusting. I hope that someone class to her will have the integrity to talk to her and not just be a yes person. What disturbs me is not only what she did, but how she was unwilling to take responsibility for it after at the press conference. If Serena won't own up to this act and act forgiveness, what message does that send to the thousands of young people who look up to her. It's not too late Serena to take a hard look and admit what you did and ask forgiveness from your fans, and the linesperson that you verbally abused.

Serena Williams, one of the greatest tennis champions off all time!! One of the most giving people that i have ever known of. You do not owe anyone an apology. Yes you were out of line of what you did say, but in the heat of the moment, many people would have done the same thing on a bad call, whether it was in football game during the superbowl,a basketball game with only seconds to go in the game, or any sport, or even in their career. I know i would have, it is just the competitive nature in us. Everyone can sit back and say how they would recact but until it really happens to them, they don't really know what they would do. Yes you are a role model for many women, teens, african americans, whites, and many more, but people have to realize that you are just a human like everyone else at the end of the day and nobody is perfect. Your true fans will stick by yourside no matter what you do, that is the true meaning of good friends and fans. You have already been through a lot in your life and this is just a really small bump compared to it all, but like you always do, you will use all of this negativity from your so call "fans" and press and use it to your advantage like you have done in the past. A lot of people would have done the same thing if this happened to them, just keep your head held high and keep believing in yourself, and use all of these negative comments that these people so called your "fans" to your advantage. You are just going to have to work that much harder and come back and prove everyone wrong. You are the best, you will always be the best!!! You are a GREAT CHAMPION, nothing can stop you!!!!! GO SERENA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serena tonight was hard I know, but always remember keep your head level and don't ever give those crackers what they want. And that is to see you lose your cool. It was wrong and unfair but all is fair in love and tennis. I will always be a fan but never let them drive you to angry black women girl. This to shall pass. Ignore these people who wish you less than the best.

Comment by : hawk pc Saturday, September 12, 2009

Serena, nor anyone on here knows if she foot faulted. It's not even the point. People make mistakes, athletes, officials and fans. If you watch sports you see officials make mistakes on almost every match or game! But if you are an athlete and you don't like a call you can't disrespect the linesperson and threaten to take the ball and shove it down there f---in throat. As an ex scholarship athlete, I believe that admitting you are wrong and sportsmanship has nothing to do with your desire or how you compete, it has to do with class character and integrity. Terrell Owens: great athlete but is a douche, Jerry Rice, better receiver thnt TO will ever be but great character, lets see how Serena handles this.....

My mom always said sometimes laughter keeps you from crying. Laugh this one off and shake these haters off.

Serena, I just saw your press conference after the loss tonight. I did not think you owned up to the unprofessional performance that you displayed. Your are a great player and a role model and it would help kids and others to see you admit to being angry and acting unprofessionally. It was there for all the world to see. You just glossed over it in the press conference. Come on, you can make a difference in so many lives, just by being honest!!! Please let others know you can admit when you are wrong. Thank you.

Comment by : hawk pc Saturday, September 12, 2009

If she was "out of line" by saying she was going to shove a ball down "her f--in throat, like you say Lacey then why shouldn't she apologize??? If you are out of line, you admit it and apologize for disrespecting that person.. A real friend/fan of hers would be real with her and not just say what a bunch of followers/yes people would think she wants to hear! You can be a Serena fan and admit as much! Or you can follow your idol blindly. Serena is one of the most amazing athletes of our time who overcame alot and I admire. But she should still admit she made a mistake and disrespected that poor girl. Admitting you screwed up is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Comment by : Lennox Bennett Saturday, September 12, 2009

The semifinal is now over and I am really disappointed with the way the match end. I will not indulge in the decision based on the rules, but I believe an exception could be made under the circumstances. Kim however played a smart match by dictating and moving Serena around the court. Serena in my view seems tentative at times and did not capitalize and all the second serves she received. Serena played well when she is a game down but got caught in the trap in playing Kim's game for most of the match. With the exception of when Serena breaks Kim she was not going for her shot with authority and was just trying to get the ball back. In my view Serena did not do well consistently in moving Kim around the court as Kim was receiving most of the balls from a position where she did not have to do much moving. Kim in my view was the aggressor and did not hold back when going for her shot. Obviously she did not have anything to lose so this allowed her to play with confidence. She however came to win the match and her strategy works well. Serena's big contributor to her loss was not getting the first serve in when needed to do so. She also did not do well on her second serve in this match. It is very difficult to beat a player who is playing well with such low percentage of second serve or missing first serves in crucial moments. I have observed Serena loss matches when she plays Maria, Elena and Justine Henna. Serena loose when the tries to play their game as these players play smart tennis and has good ground strokes. They also come out with a strategy to engage Serena in a lot of rallies and hope to capture the error from Serena. In my view Serena must develop a winning strategy that can work consistently against these kinds of plays. It is very difficult to beat Kim or any of these players when you do not take the game to them. When Serena wins these matches she does so by being on the offensive most of the time. Unfortunately in the match tonight Serena was not consistently on the offensive to pressure Kim into making a lot of errors. When Kim is breaking back Serena twice in a set it means Serena did not raise the level of her game to intimidate Kim.

SOME OF YOU ACT AS IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A SITUATION WHERE YOU DID OR SAID SOMETHING THAT YOU WOULD NOT HAVE SAID IN A NORMAL SITUATION.THIS WAS NOT A NORMAL SITUATION FOR SERENA. YOU GUYS HAVE SAID THAT SHE NEEDS TO OWN UP TO WHAT SHE SAID TO LINEPERSON AND APOLOGIZE. GIVE THE WOMAN A CHANCE TO CALM DOWN FIRST. THE PRESS CONFERENCE WAS IMMEDIATELY AFTER HER MATCH. GIVE THE WOMAN A BREAK. AS MANY OF YOU HAVE SAID, THIS WOMAN IS ONLY HUMAN. YOU PEOPLE HAVE SAID SOME TERRIBLE THINGS ABOUT SERENA THAT WERE ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR. I THOUGHT THIS PAGE WAS ONLY FOR HER FANS OR PEOPLE THAT LIKE SERENA. SERENA AND VENUS HAS HAD TO FACE A LOT OF ADVERSITY OVER THE YEARS. DO YOU GUYS REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED AT INDIAN WELLS OR THE MATCH WITH JENNIFER CAPRIATI, OR EVEN THE FRENCH OPEN THIS YEAR WITH THE BALL HITTING THE SANCHEZ WOMAN BUT THE POINT WAS GIVEN TO SANCHEZ. THE CLIP IS ON YOUTUBE, YOU SHOULD WATCH IT. SERENA HAS HAD ALOT OF BAD CALLS, BUT TONIGHT SHE JUST SNAPPED. IT WAS A REACTION WITHOUT REALLY THINKING ABOUT IT. IT IS HARD BEING A CHAMPION, EVERYBODY WAITING ON YOU TO FAIL, IT SEEMS. MARY CARILLO, CHRIS EVERT AND OTHER COMMENTATORS ARE ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT HOW UNFOCUSED SERENA AND VENUS ARE. THEY THINK THAT THEY ARE TOO INVOLVED IN OUTSIDE THINGS. WE MUST REMEMBER THAT EVERYBODY IS NOT THE SAME. SOME PEOPLE NEED VARIETY TO BALANCE US OUT, OR IT WILL CAUSE US TO BURN OUT. YES, SERENA SAID A FEW CHOICE WORDS TONIGHT, BUT WE MUST REMEMBER THAT WE HAVE DONE THINGS THAT SOME WOULD SAY ARE CONTROVERSIAL. WHEN CHAMPIONS FALL, WE GET BACK UP.

Serena, I am just in shock about this entire situation. And to see afterwards that you did not foot fault, makes me even more upset. But to be cheated, is so USTA. The first time you were cheated they adopted Hawk Eye, now that your cheated for the second time, i wonder what they are going to adopt now. Am not saying that your reaction was right, but am not saying it was wrong either. In the heat of the moment when you are fighting to stay in your match, to have another controversal call brought aganist you once again, is just wrong again. Go anddo well in the doubles, and bring home the title there. Cause like you said, "you dont want to leave empty handed".

You need to lose some weight. It the weight problems which began to tire your body. The hispanic lines person was placed there to watch your feet because the IBM people are familiar with your game. I understand those emotions spilling over but I wish you would have kept your cool. I see the world as color blind so for all those ignorant and bigoted people please ignore them, you are above that. "I'm young and I feel like in life everyone has to have experience that they take and that they learn from. "I like to learn from the past, live in the present, and not make the same mistakes in the future." That's wisdom, u will fight another day again. We ur fans are all proud of you.

Serena, you are not the World Nr 1 - it is clear that you are not a Champion & a disgrace to the WTA - bad sportmanship! You were getting too arrogant with all your statements about Dinara; so you the "blinde sweep" you deserve being out of the Open. Go Kim!

Comment by : Evonne Perdue Sunday, September 13, 2009

Ms. Williams.... I think you had had enough! This was not the first bad call on the part of the officials. These people in this game can be so "partial" and want us to overlook their obvous "partiality". Well after years of it, it shows in your faces, enough is enough sometimes. How can you keep looking the other way when if you are blond, blue-eyed and from any county, state, planet, etc. you are showered with hoorays, alcolades and endorsements, whereas someone who is just the opposite must work four times as hard and are given a minimal amount of coverage. I think it finally got to you to say the least. Maybe others say what you should not have done, but who are they to say, they have not work your sneakers. I say you took all you could and it was great it was only a shouting match. Hopefully, they will do some soul searching on their professionalism and how they treat everyone to avoid any built-up anger because of unfair treatments to people. W-o-w, it feels good to get rid of a bad taste in you. They were just that. I'm praying for you! God bless you in your future endeavors!

THIS IS AMERICA YOU KNOW THEY LIVE LIFE BASED ON A FANTASY DO U NOT SEE ALL THIS WAS PLANNED NOW THEY THROW IN THE MIX IT WAS NOT YOUR FIRST FOOT FAULT FOR THE TOURNAMENT BUT WHAT HURTS ME ITS ONLY AT THE US OPEN THEY HAVE BEEN CALLING IT ON YOU AND VENUS. EVEN VENUS ONE DAY ASKED WHICH FOOT ARE YOU GUYS LOOKING AT? ITS CLEAR THEY ALL WANTED KIM IN THE FINALS AND THE TOURNAMENT REFFEREE HIMSELF KNOWS HOW GREAT YOU PLAY FROM BEHIND LOOK AT LAST YERS SEMIFINAL AGAINST "V". WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? AS A FAN I AM NOT GONNA SIT THERE AND SAY U SHOULD APOLOGISE THEY SHOULD. TO ME YOU GUYS SHOULD NOT PLAY ANY DAMN DOUBLES. WHATS WORST NOW THEY MAKE MACANROE OUT TO BE A SAINT BY SAYING HE WOULD NEVER HAVE REACTED LIKE U DID. IS THIS A JOKE OR WHAT? KIM KNEW THEY RESULT FROM THE AUSIE OPEN 5-1 (40-0) YOU CAME ROARING BACK TO BEAT HER 7-5 AND WON THE SERENA SLAM I REMEMBER THAT LIKE YESTERDAY. SO IN HER HEART SHE KNEW SHE DIDNT WIN TRUST ME SHE KNEW. LEAVE THEM THE FINALS RATINGS WONT AMOUNT TO AS CLOSE AS U AND V IN THE FINAL WHEN YOU GUYS PLAY EACH OTHER. TAKE A LOOK AT THE DRAW IN THE FIRST PLACE THEY SURELY DIDNT WANT A BLACK PLAYER IN THE FINAL AND THEY WOULD SEE TO IT NO MATTER WHAT. YOU WHAT EVER DISAPPOINTMENT IN LIFE IS A BLESING I CANT SEE IT NOW BUT GOD IS GOOD AND THAT MUCH I KNOW. MEEKA HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH CUS I WILL DIE ROOTING FOR YOU. While your behavior following the foot fault was reprehensible, the fact that you did not apologize for your behavior following the match is even more reprehensible. While I have always enjoyed watching you play and the intensity you bring to the the court, I will NEVER cheer for you again. It is too late to apoligize now even though that is what your publicity people are telling you to do. You have shown your true colors. btww, rooting against you today in doubles eventhough your sister knows how to carry herself.

Hello Serena, I'm a big supporter of you and your sister. Please do not get defensive but in order to get the media off you back you may want to think about apologizing to the lines person for your verbal abuse. And then mention the fans and thank them for their support. Otherwise this will go on and on and distract from your numerous achievements. Think to yourself what would Jehovah do? Then what you can have your sister (and Billie Jean, Marat Safin and Johnny Mac) do is lobby to get rid of the foot fault rule. As Marat stated in 2004 or 2005 its an 1851 rule that should be abolished. As I said I'm a big supporter of yours..you are good for the game of tennis. My son is playing tennis at Gustavus Adolphus college and he is very objective but he too felt you should make an apology to the lines person. Martina Hingis did it at the french open and I think that you are a bigger person than she is. This "sister" really loves you...looking forward to your doubles finals tomorrow.

So trying to be professional includes saying to a woman who probably makes 10 an hour and could care less about the outcome "I'm gonna take this f ball and shove it down your f t throat!" ? And she has won all those Slams and tournaments even though the tennis establishment doesn't want her to win cause she is black? America hates black athletes, I mean look at Tiger winning all those majors and not getting one endorsement deal, poor guy! Quit playing the race card when all that happened is a great athlete lost her head, (good call or bad) and needs to apologize. Her arrogance and refusal to apologize are the real issue here And who checked to see if it was a bad call? If you have to lie to win your argument people it's probably not a good stance. Keep it real and Serena needs honesty not mindless posts that are say what she wants to hear.

How about an apology, girlfriend? And an apology if it is sincere, not because we asked you to do it... As a longtime fan of tennis, its decorum, and the variety of tennis players (with YOU and V. being one of my all-time favorites), your actions last night was inexcusable. Yes...the official was wrong....her calling the foot fault was wrong....line referees are not "faultless", but girlfriend...your actions, your profanity....I was STUNNED by this "classless" behaviour. And it seemed, (I don't know...I could be mistaken) that you were not "owning" up to it in the after-match conference... And mind you, when McEnroe lost his "cool" in his matches... that did not win him any "points" from me or his fans for that matter... his actions, like yours, was inexcusable. I will be boycotting your doubles match today.... You are still one of my favorite players...but you should really considers an honest, sincere apology....to your legion of fans, to the tennis world, and to City of New York...(where I am from) those people love you to death...but what you did...what out of character!!! Hey Sweetie don't sweat it! It was unfortunate that the line judge showed poor judgement, even if it was a foot fault ( i didn't see one) it should not have been called. Kim was playing really well and may have won the match but, I liked your chances in a third set! You have always conducted yourself well on the court and true that was a scene for the ages! Although I hated to see you so upset, I ain't mad at ya! I hope you saw fit to apologize to that judge because i don't think she was trying to make you lose and its the Christian thing to do. As for the media: well they will beat this dead horse to no end! Hold you head high it was an understandable outburst of steam given the circumstances. Continue to do your best and good luck at year's end. I could not be prouder of you than if you were my own daughter! Angela Smith/Arainbow4@aol.com

Serena you are a great champion. You lost your cool. I can understand losing your cool. Your game was not on, you were playing from behind, you were trying really hard to get your game on. Then this person calls foot fault (which was not a foor fault) I ll lose my cool too. This whole tournament between yu and vee it must have been at least eight foot faults. You probaly would have come back and beat Kim down. I have seen you done it many many many times. Unlike the commentators saying you were goin to lose anyway. If that had been Sharapova called foot fault on match point they probably would have fined the linesperson (LOL) Keep your head up girl. I stand by you. Mac, Andy, Safin etc. have done worse.

I am so disappointed about what happened to Serena last night. Apologize? NO she should not apologize. I am not condoning Serena's behavior... it was an INCORRECT call. In other words the call should have never been made. Add to that that it was called at such a critical time. I don't know of too many professional atheletes that would have bowed out gracefully in this situation. I clearly think the linesman should apologize. Why isn't the media trying to figure out if it was a correct call? Oh, because it was not. Did you see the serve that Clijsters hit out that Serena pointed out to the chair umpire. The ball was not called out and fortunately Serena won that point. It was unfair- END OF STORY- I don't blame her for her reaction. Keep your head up Serena. This is just like the Hawk Eye system situation that was implemented b/c of your match against Capriatti. The WTA needs to change the foot fault regualtions. You are just an agent of change!

Comment by : Jody Cabrera Sunday, September 13, 2009

Hey Serena... I watched your match and I would like to point out a couple of things. 1) To play the sport and win you HAVE to have some passion. 2) You didn't make a foot fault as far as the TV can tell. 3) The lady was wrong you went ballistic which how can people fault you for the thing that makes you a champion - Passion intensity. Stupid really. the bigger point is HELLO INSTANT REPLAY FOOT FAULT CHALLENGE SYSTEM. . Keep up the passion Serena..

Comment by : emily worman Sunday, September 13, 2009

It is sad to think that you Serena would see yourself as a role model....what was said last night should have eliminated you from the whole tournament! You single handedly disrespected the sport that made you who you are. Your lack of control and poor choice of words proved what little professionalism you have. Not to take ownership of what you said and apologize is a disgrace. I am sad for all the young girls who look up to you, as you have shown them what POOR sportsmanship is all about !!!!

Dear Serena, I've been watchin you and your family for many years. I'm not into tennis, cause I know the racism of the game. Nonetheless, I appreciate those who endured the madness before you, and I appreciate you and your family for pushin thru the madness to show the world what the real deal is....on the court and off the court. I started watching your match yesterday. I could feel that things were "off", so turned the channel. When I checked the news on yahoo, I saw what happened and I heard your interview. Look. I know by now, you and your family are well aware of the spiritual warfare tactics. There comes a time when We get provoked and "righteous indignation" surfaces from deep within our Souls. This is Truth. It happens to the Best of Us. Don't feel no way. Keep your Head Up and know that you Represent so much more than any of them can "judge". God Knows...... Take all that happened and feel real good about the Fact that you were able to Keep your Focus, regardless of the demonic plot. Gird up, stay steady in your Discipline.....and come back Ready. It's all Good. I don't watch tennis, but I'll be praying and watching out for you. God Got your Back, and so do Enough of Us that Matter. Blessings, MahMah Shekinah and Family

COPY OF MY EMAIL SENT TO CBS and US OPEN OFFICIALS ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2009 IN SUPPORT OF SERENA WILLIAMS I am stunned by the horrendously poor judgment of the line judge in calling a footfall on the defending US Champion Serena Williams in the final game of the final set. I have not seen such a call on any other player at such a point in a match. Imagine the fallout if a call like that made against Serena Williams last night was made against Roger Federer, Andy Roddick or Lindsay Davenport under similar circumstances. To make such a call (which could not be challenged) under those circumstances was unconscionable and apparently designed to undermine Serena's composure at a key point in the match. Worse -- a review of the camera shows clearly that the call was wrong -- Serena's foot was NOT on the line There should be an investigation into the line judge's call, and the official should be banned from calling matches at this level. It would be interesting to know the total number of foot fall calls made against both Venus and Serena during the 2009 US Open as compared with the number of footfall calls against all of the top ten players. I am certain the statistics will show a disproportionately high percentage of calls against the Williams sisters. Also what sanctions were made against the Russian woman who tore her tapes off during play against Panetta the other night or other players who have cursed and thrown down their rackets during a the US Open? Moments ago today during the Federer/Djokovich US Open semi-final match Mary Carillo stated that Serena should be suspended for her comments and not allowed to play in the doubles final with her sister. Of course, such a decision would penalize Venus, grant a default women's double championship and deprive the Williams sisters of yet another slam title. Mary Carillo's comments are inappropriate and wrong. Carillo's job is to call the Federer/Djokovich match and not share her views on a highly controversial matter that is currently being investigated and on which there is disagreement among tennis fans. Carillo's comments are proof that she has no understanding of the frustration caused to the Williams sisters by repeated unfair calls. After all, it was another wrong call against Serena that cost her a slam title that led to the introduction of the highly effective "challenge" system. Carillo is the least knowledgeable of all CBS tennis commentators. Her absence from CBS would certainly not be missed. Since CBS lacks any African American tennis commentators, Carillo should be replaced with an African American commentator, and the US Tennis Federation should sponsor the production of a video exploring the role that race and racism continues to play among fans, judges and tennis players at all levels of today's tennis. Such racism, experienced by Arthur Ashe, Althea Gibson, Yannick Noah, Venus and Serena Williams and other African American tennis players, and expressed by the likes of Mary Carillo, has no place in the sport.

Hey Serena, Just wanted to offer my support, I recently had a issue at work, granted they were wrong but I did not handle it as well as I might have, the important thing is that I learned for that. Things happen to us all everyday, however I found that it's how we act or not act how we react or not react that separates the winners, I had to accept responsibility for the way I reacted, accepted the consequences and have since moved on. I'm sure you know that you must pick yourself up dust yourself off and move on.I watched you a couple of years ago in England when you had those awful cramps, man that was just awful, but what did you do? God Bless you, you'll be just fine! Jaycue

Urgent!!!. Urgent!!!. All of Serena Williams' fans need to rally around her immediately and email, call and write letters to the "Grand Slam Committee" who have just unjustifiable done the following to her: ...Serena was fined the maximum permissible on-site fine of $10,000 ...Serena was also fined $500 for racquet abuse ...The grand slam committee is also conducting an investigation to impose additional penalties on her Remember, many players last week and this week during the US Open Tennis tournament abused their racquets, including Fernando Gonzalez from Chile. If Serena is going to be fined for her racquet abuse then all of those players should be treated likewise..if not, this is a clear case of "Racial Discrimination." This entity has always wanted to get rid of the Williams' sisters and couldn't...they have given them bad draws, bad calls, etc. but the sisters still maintained a quorum of dignity and professionalism. Now they think they have them where they want them but Serena's millions of fans, please don't let her down, let us all stick together and support her ASAP and flood the committee with telephone calls, emails, etc. Let them know that if they suspend her for the unjust action of that referee who made the wrong call then we will boycott their advertisers, products and ALL TENNIS TOURNAMENTS. AL SHARPTON we need your help and advocacy ASAP with this issue. May justice reigns!!!. Betty

John McEnroe was kicked out of All England Club for awhile due to his actions (that's Wimbledon) and was thrown out of the Australian Open due to his tantrum in that tournament. My two fav tennis players? Venus and Mac! However they both screwed up and Serena should come clean. So since Mac And Serena were treated similarly, it's obviously racism! As a white male, I'm tired of everthing we have to put up with affirmative action, no quotas to get in college, and toughest of all, white women! The burdens us male WASP's bear makes Mac a beacon to us all, keep the faith. (see above for paradoxical sarcasm)

Mary Carillo should be fired now!!!!. Pronto, instantly. She is the one who told the Grand Slam Committee to penalize Serena and let her not play with Venus at the Women's doubles finals tomorrow. Does anyone have CBS contact information?. Please let me know as we need to express our dissatisfaction of Mary Carillo's racist, bias displays against the Williams' sisters. Betty

Serena don't let them push you around. As a New Yorker I would advise a good attorney before they scapegoat you and destroy your career. I've never heard of any one having to apologize for being angry at a call that cost them match point. The call was bogus, and you did have every right to be angry. Apologize for your profanity and no more. I would show up with Al Sharpton, and his crew and you'll see them back down, don't forget this is not the first time you've been victimized. Don't allow the rascist element to take valuable time from you. Get prepared to seek advice from NAACP, etc. You should be aware of how they smuggly Mary and Pam and MaryJo are creating aggrssion toward you. Tape everything!

Hi Serena, So sorry you let your emotions cloud your judgement. Here you had an opportunity to set a precedent by "challenging the foot fault called", but I know you will be pro-active instead of re-active in the future. The linespersons in this 2009 US Open were the worst ever. Please continue to believe in yourselves and remember that neither you nor you sister received any apologies for all the ridicule and misjudgement you received in your early years on the tour, which you have withstood as opposed to others on the tour. It is not a bad thing to sometimes let them all know you too have emotions and can lose it. It is a human trait.

Hello Serena. Just call me MaMaD because I am of the wonderful age of 50+, ask you mother -she knows. But I wanted to tell you that I felt you out their and wanted you to know that WE always have a hard time, which I know you have experienced. But baby just keep your head up to the sky. Because we know that this is where our blessings come from. The devil can't take away what God had given. And we know that its really about money. I am so proud to be a woman of color. My granddaugher plays basketball and softball. They are juniors in high school and look up to you. So keep up the goodwork. And if you need anything besides MONEY because I am broke just know, that I am only an email away. Love You MaMa D

To alll you HATERS!! Serena Williams is a Blessed Child. Your just mad because she is Black, Beautiful and her family now has MONEY. GO AND GET A LIFE!!!!!! IF SHE WAS WHITE, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL SHE HAVE BEEN TREATED NOR FINED IN THIS MANNER. WHENEVER THE BLACK FOLKS ARE REPRESENTING THE COUNTRY AND KISSING ASS, ALL OF YOU ARE FINE. TRY PUTTING YOURSELF IN SERENA'S SHOES ON THAT COURT AND HAVING SOME ASIAN PREJUDICE WOMAN CALL A PLAY ON YOU LIKE THAT. YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE AS TO HOW STREET SHE REALLY COULD BE.

Serena, Now that you have had a little time to defuse and collect yourself, get sound advice from a few people in power whom you trust. It may be a good idea to appeal your fines and the injustice aimed towards you. If it is a reality that other players were not fined for the same infractions of the rules, you are justified in challenging. If you just want it to all go away, you can pay the fines and move on. However, it is never that simple for us black folks. This may prove to be an opportunity for you to change the way things are done in the game. Pray on it before you decide, and know you are supported by fans all over the world. You and Venus are our "Golden Girls" and no one, I repeat, no one will be tolerated who tries to destroy either of your careers. If I can be of assistance in any way [I am a writer, and the pen is mightier than the sword (my service is free of charge)] let me know. Your only obligation is to your fans and the populace watching the match. An apology is in order in reference to the use of profanity, but other than that, you have the right to stand up for yourself and what is right. Hold you head up as the beautiful African Queen that you are. Jeanette Davis-Adeshote' 'Author"

And what about the line judge's accusation? "Well, I've never been in a fight in my whole life, so I don't know why she would have felt threatened." You can't argue with that evasive rhetoric. 78% dissaprove of how she handled it...don't kill the messenger!

I say we reward her for threatening to shove a ball down her f throat! It's the kind of conduct we should encourage. If she had actually done it we should have put up a statue of her in DC. Isn't Obama going to have her as a guest and put her up there with ML King? She has done so much to be a role model like King. Nothing like threatening an official with bodily hard to be a civil rights leader and inspiration to all! I need a tissue, can wait to see Obama present her to the nation and throw that official in jail.. I need a tissue.

Hi, Ms. W. I watched the Women's final. Kim is an amazing tennis player. I heard what you said about being excited about the possibility of playing her again. I look forward to that match! But please: rise above the poor officiating. Somethings will never change. You ought not let them change you. I've read comments tonight that urge you to apologize for the sake of young athletes who look up to you. I agree with that. I also believe that unfairness in sports and poor officiating dampen the spirits of those who work hard, play by the rules and aspire to do great things in their sport. Judging by your accomplishments you have a wonderful spirit and a big heart. Learn the lessons and move on and up. #1Fan

Comment by : Sandra Ockletree Sunday, September 13, 2009

Serena was wrong for her action, but every action causes a reaction. The line judge should be fined for calling a false call. The fine is sufficient, banning her is ridiculous. Women tennis has exploded since the Williams' sister entered the arena. I will not watch women tennis if Serena is banned. Again, what will happen to the line judge? She should apologized and be retrained....maybe judge the Juniors.

Comment by : Sara Hagigh Sunday, September 13, 2009

I have watched you and your sister Venus for many years, and have played and competed in this wonderful sport for over 30 years - before you were born. I am horrified and disgusted by your verbal assault on the line judge yesterday - most unprofessional and unsportsmanlike. Using the "f" word and threatening to shove a tennis ball down the line judge's throat is NEVER acceptable. Your response today was far short of an apology; you said "my emotions got the best of me" - that may be, but a true sportswoman owns up to reprehensible behavior. In over 30 years of adoring this game, i have come to respect the players who showed poise throughout, especially in difficult situations. You need to state unequivocably that your behavior was wrong and that you apologize. You are a symbol to many young girls - far beyond the tennis court. Accept responsibility, be accountable, be a true champion.

Your behaviour in the semi final was absolutely shocking and you ought to apologise to the officials and the spectators! Your behavious at the start of the tournament was also totally arrogant with you laughing at Safina being ranked no 1 and not you .......... she's no 1 because she is a professional tennis player and not some fashion designer or perfume creator etc etc. I guess Novak should be ranked ahead of Rafa and Andy Murray as they have not won any majors this year and he has .......... get real Serena! You are no where close to the greatest and we would really love to watch good tennis without the arrogant attitude. So glad Kim won!

You can take the girl out of Compton, but you can’t take Compton out of the girl. She did foot fault. She also plays the game for the love of money and not the game. Mary Jo Fernadez is the sweetest girl in tennis and Captain of the US Fed Cup team. She has tried very hard to get the Williams sisters to play for the US, but alas, no money in Fed Cup. I have every word she said to the lines judge, and if her endorsements do not dry up, I have to wonder about the types of companies that would ignore her actions.

Comment by : Robert Lemke Monday, September 14, 2009

Bob’s comments at 1:54 AM hit the nail on the head. The Williams girls do play for the money and the new lifestyle it has afforded the whole family. They only play the Slams and major high purse events. Fed Cup, forget that. The advise given the girls over the years has not been very productive, i.e. their Dad’s advise that they not socialize with the other players as he puts it “they will disrespect you for where you came from and the color of your skin”. Thankfully the girls discovered over time that dear old Dad was wrong on this call. Their Aunt going back to the old neighborhood in a flashy SUV, to be gunned down because local gang members did not know she was the Aunt of the sisters, but rather a rival drug dealer moving in on their turf. Like Bob said, the blast Serena gave the lines judge was just the “Compton” in her showing through.

I’m surprised at the 15% of you supporting Serena. Did you not know what she said? If that is the case, here it is “I swear to God I’m f***ing going to take this f***ing ball and shove it down your f***ing throat, you hear that? I swear to God”. If you 15% still support Serena’s actions, I’d be willing to bet that all of you probably voted for George W Bush for his 2nd term. Your mentality is my country right or wrong, my president right or wrong, and now my player right or wrong. The USTA has a tough decision to make concerning Serena. To ban her from the game would hurt the pocketbook of the USTA (and the Williams sisters arrogantly know this) so that is unlikely. To fine her the total 2009 US Open purse she has won to this point and pull her from doubles would send the message that her actions will not be tolerated. I know that this is unfair to Venus, but all doubles players should pick their partners wisely.

Comment by : Robert Lemke Monday, September 14, 2009

A $10,500.00 fine and she can still play her doubles match. I guess the only balls the USTA have are fuzzy yellow ones. And yes to an earlier question, she is still a Jehovah’s Witness.

Serena I'm sorry to witness all this trauma you are going thru but you should take the blame. Unfortunately you opened the door for haters to really hate you. Now people will want you to play just for you to lose and the commentators didn't help you. The officials wanted to ban you and Venus from playing doubles a move that is totally not necessary but it's how they feel towards you. You will get past this but if I were you, I'd play for Serena not America. They don't deserve you and certainly don't appreciate you. However, you must realize that you are a public image and other players are going to play on this temper you projected. Bottom line, You were wrong but STAY STRONG!!

Being a professional it would be nice to hear Serena acknowledge the importance of all of the tournaments NOT just the slams. What happened during the Clijsters match was a disgrace. Many are missing the point - Serena threatened the woman and the call was correct as they have shown. Serena's anger was all about her being outplayed, after all she's the true #1 player right? Wrong! She also has not shown any remorse for threatening the woman w/ physical violence nor for taking away a huge comeback moment for Kim who was clearly outplaying Serena. I highly doubt w/ her low serve percentage during this match and w/ how well Kim was returning/playing that Serena would have pulled off a comeback as some have suggested - not this time sports fans. Her recent arrogance on court and her long time lack of respect for other players is just as disgraceful and very unprofessional. Race, whether one likes her or not does not come into play at all. BTW Serena called the woman a gook! $10,500 fine is a joke. Many have lost their tempers and yelled - Serena threatened a person - that is very different. Sore loser? Shocked loser is more like it! Denying that she knew the rules, not admitting what she did say - when will her disrespectful for all of us end? I love the sport and think Serena and her sister Venus are very good players. I would be very pleased to see Serena turn over a new leaf and become a true professional champion perhaps a bit more like her big sis. CONGRATULATIONS KIM - WELL DONE!
